WinZip For Windows User Guide

Why do people use Zip files?

Zip files compress data and therefore save time and space and make downloading software and transferring e-mail attachments faster. Typical uses for Zip files include:

  • Distributing files on the Internet: Only one download is required to obtain all related files, and file transfer is quicker because the archived files are compressed.
  • Sending a group of related files to an associate: When you distribute a collection of files as a single Zip file, you benefit from the file grouping as well as compression.
  • Saving disk space: If you have large files that are important but seldom used, such as large data files, simply compress the files into a Zip file and then unzip (or “extract”) them only when needed.

How do You open a Zip file?

Zip files are single files that contain one or more compressed files. People zip files to keep related groups of files together and to make files smaller so they are easier and faster to share by email or via the web.Zip files are ideal for archiving since they save storage space. And, they are also useful for securing data using encryption.

WinZip allows you to archive zip file(s) so that you can organize, store, and save space on your computer. Conclusions

Although there are more comprehensive alternatives on the market such as WinRAR, 7-zip is a good alternative for compressing and decompressing files. WinZip stands out from the rest of the competition in terms of ease of use. The wizard, which simplifies the opening and creation of compressed files, is one of its strengths. WinZip has a user-friendly interface, and the rate of compression/decompression is remarkable, especially when it is dealing with medium or large-sized files.

The downside of the program is that it only compresses files in ZIP format, a major limitation when compared with competitors such as IZArc, 7-Zip, and WinRAR. However, it still remains a good solution, and for 64-bit OS as well.
